How to Capture

There are two ways to capture data: UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) or Faro/Leica Laser Scanners. We use a drone equipped with a small laser machine in situations where access is impossible. This drone should be RTK (Real Time Kinematic), or we use our base point to calculate the data if there are network or signal loss issues.

When working with P20 or Faro, we must paste black and white targets on hard surfaces, ducts, and tanks. However, this is not enough to tie each scan with another, so we need to use metal targets to move when the scan position changes. All black and white marks should be geo-referenced (coordinated values of each target point).

Scanning Duration

The duration of scanning for a standard project is usually around three minutes. However, scans that last from six to eleven minutes are needed for high-accuracy projects. The scanning duration depends on the quality of the images and the resolutions used. There are two types of scans that we can perform: colored and gray scans. Colored scans take three times longer to complete than gray scans. Point clouds and images are required for colored data, which must then be merged by software. For a quick job, it is preferable to do a gray scan.
